Winners of the recent Middy’s Thomastown fishing promotion were treated to a 2 day fishing adventure by Two Up Fishing Charters. The lucky winners together with Middy’s staff and suppliers (NHP and Gerard Lighting) were looking forward to the trip, here’s how it went...
Day 1 of the trip began when NHP rep, Jason Daye and our winners from JJ Electrical and Data, Vast Electrical, Full Contact Electrical and C-Com Electrical, arrived at the Wyndam Harbour Car Park.
Chatting amongst themselves, they cracked open a few cold beers to relax before boarding. At 2pm, with clear blue skies and not a cloud in sight, the group set sail. Once they arrived in Brighton, Rob Ciorra, from C-Com Electrical, lead the team in getting the rods out, hooking the bait and waiting for a bite! With northerly winds and calm conditions on the water, the fellas enjoyed their time in the sun. It was an all-round ideal day for fishing.
Starting the day off slowly, the boys were without luck as no fish had hopped on board. Their persistence paid off 45 minutes or so later, when Scott Hayes from Middy’s Thomastown felt a bite and stole the show with the very first catch of the day. He reeled in a whopping Snapper, 60cm in length leaving the boys in shock (you beauty)! Although the team couldn’t replicate another Snapper of similar size throughout the day, a few hours past and the contractors on board pulled in all different types of fish ranging from flatheads, banjo sharks and even a starfish. That evening, still on the water, Shane from Full Contact Electrical steadied himself and pulled in a 50cm Snapper. He definitely was close to Scotty’s fine catch earlier in the day, but missed out on the crown for Day 1 by 10cm! With 5 fish caught in total, the guys wrapped it up and headed back to Wyndham Harbour to call it a night.
Day 2 saw another batch of winners from Omni Electrical, BCOE Electrical, Apollo Electrical and Chanter Electrical set sail towards Wyndham Harbour for their fishing adventure.
Again enjoying refreshments and gourmet sandwiches upon boarding, Dags (pictured above) especially loved the chicken sandwiches – compliments to the chef. In slightly cooler conditions, forecasted 26 degrees with a slight southerly breeze, they set sail for Beaumaris. It was a great day’s fishing, with the guys catching a large amount of flathead. The fish were virtually jumping into the boat by the afternoon. Brett Coe from BCOE Electrical blamed the cooler conditions for the lack of snapper that was caught on Day 1 (we’re not so sure). Andrew, Brett’s partner in crime, also a contractor from BCOE Electrical landed a nice Pinky later that evening. A memorable time was had by all of the customers and suppliers involved. We would like to thank Gerard Lighting and NHP for their support and organising the fishing event promotion in conjunction with the Middy’s Thomastown Branch. A special thank you to Two Up Fishing Charter team, Jack, Jake and Josephine for catering the two-day event and being very hospitable throughout the period.
