Gosford Greyhound Racetrack Lighting Upgrade

A new way to see Lighting and so much more...

Omega Power Equipment was invited by Middy’s Northmead to look at upgrading the lighting on the main straight at Wentworth Park Greyhounds.

With a great outcome on that site, Omega were in-turn given the opportunity to upgrade the lighting at the Gosford Greyhound Track.

The brief was provided by the NSW Greyhound Association to achieve over 1000 lux on the main straight and over 700 lux on the balance of the track. These levels are measured on the vertical plane.


Omega were asked to use the existing poles. The poles on the main straight ranged from 12 to 15 metres in height and on the rest of the track they were 7 metre poles. Existing lighting was a mixture of Metal Halide and Mercury Vapour products. Working very closely with Jack from JMH Electrical, Omega were able to finalise the mounting options on the existing poles.

The following fittings were selected because of their optical performance, lighting control, compatible voltage drivers and mounting solutions; 

• Main Straight - Renelite Rigel 1000w
• Back Straight - Renelite Riva Pro 200w

A full lighting design was completed to confirm that these selected floodlights would comply to the design brief. Final commissioning was completed in September 2023 and after a night audit it was confirmed that the lighting levels fully complied with the design brief.
