As the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold around the world the Australia Supercars Championship heads down a different track to keep the season alive. With no live action until June, the full cast of Supercars stars, including Walkinshaw Andretti United's (WAU) Chaz Mostert and Bryce Fullwood are racing in the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries. To create new content for fans, the virtual championship will head to four continents and nine countries as the drivers race via the iRacing computer simulation platform from their respective homes, with a champion to be awarded at the end of the series. The action runs over approximately 10 rounds from April 8 and will be broadcast on Fox Sports, Kayo, Supercars.com, Supercars Facebook Page and Supercars Teams' Facebook Pages.
The WAU team owner has thrown his full support behind the Eseries, stating:
"Through the Eseries, we've got an incredible opportunity to continue to compete and entertain on an authentic, relevant platform, in a way that's accessible to the public. You'll still see Chaz in the Mobil PM Appliances Online No. 25 and Bryce in the Mobil 1 Middy's Racing No. 2, battling it out with the same names and faces. It's a great way to stay visible, give the fans something to watch, and importantly, continue to help our fantastic partner group.
The characteristics of the car and the model that is in the sim is actually pretty close to the Supercar in real life. It's going to be tough to race, with a lot of mistakes, a lot of brake locking and a lot of cars running off track. Hopefully we can give our team some success in the virtual world." - Ryan Walkinshaw
To follow the WAU team's virtual journey head to their website or follow all the action on their social media channels.
Middy’s wish Bryce and the Walkinshaw Andretti United Racing team the best of luck!
