Having spent the nine weeks prior to their learning the introductory basics of the electrical trade, the pre-apprentices were fascinated to see where the trade could potentially take them in the future.
Middy’s SmartCentre expert Kari Leigh, took the students on a tour of the interactive displays featuring state-of-the-art technology. Kari showed them the latest in Automation, CCTV, Intercom, Security, Sonos, Lighting/Switching, Sonos, EV Charging and Solar/Battery options.
There were a few cheeky giggles from the young group when Kari asked “Hey Google, Spa Time” and automatically, the spa display lights dimmed, the spa tap turned on and romantic music played through the speakers.
Kari guided the students through Middy's SmartSpec software, demonstrating its features and capabilities. She shared samples of house plans she’d received from the electrical contractors' clients and showcased the meticulous detail of the customised electrical plans once they're finished.
The group were thoroughly engaged as Kari presented them with a blank house plan and encouraged the students to contribute ideas for fittings, products, sensors and other features they envisioned for their own homes.
The students were then keen to learn from Brad Twyford, Branch Manager at Middy’s Narre Warren, about the additional services Middy’s offer, what to expect when going into a Middy’s branch and how the relationships between branch staff and contractors work. The answer, very friendly. They saw this first-hand from their teacher Andrew Baille, who’s been a sparky for over 20 years and has developed a great relationship with the Narre Warren branch. Andrew has developed a strong loyalty to Middy’s over the years that is reflected in the reliable and excellent support Middy’s gives him.
