Valley Park Farm is a locally owned business which produce free range eggs to the Victorian and New South Wales markets.

The day after boxing day 2021, a battery pallet jack at the egg packing facility caught fire. The fire quickly spread into the plant including the Main Switchboard which was destroyed.

Priority was to get mains power to site and a custom CT cabinet was needed to be sourced quickly. Secondly construction of a new permanent main switch board (MSB) was required. Requirements for the new MSB included solar and stand by generator equipment.
 
Shane from Dando Electrical was engaged to rewire the plant and rebuild the electrical system. Shane contacted Hank Terpstra from Middy’s Industrial for his assistance in sourcing a temporary 400A CT metering MSB to power up the site. Valley Farm could then continue to operate during the rebuild phase.

Hank also assisted in sourcing a switchboard builder who was able to produce shop drawings and seek design approvals in a very short time frame. A new 1250 Amp 8 meter long custom-built switchboard was manufactured and installed in time for the scheduled production commencement date.

Valley Park Farm are very appreciative and impressed with Hank and Shane’s efforts to get the switchboard to site and operational as quickly as they did.

The Dando Electrical team, comprising of 15 electricians and apprentices, put in 16-hour days 7 days a week to deliver the project ahead of schedule. Since the fire some 11 months ago the plant is now fully operational, cleaning, sorting and packing up to one million eggs per day.

Dando Electrical would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Middy’s, particularly the efforts and support from Hank Terpstra who without his input and knowledge the Custom built MSB would not have been delivered on time.

Shane is hoping for a quieter Christmas holiday this year…
