Councils in the West have taken the giant step in reducing energy costs and greenhouse emissions by upgrading street lighting to more energy efficient lighting technologies.
Lighting the West, a partnership between Moonee Valley, Wyndham, Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong Councils, has seen over 25,000 streetlights upgraded to energy efficient technologies, with the help of $3.73 million in funding from the Australian Government.
The sales teams at Middy’s Whittlesea and Keilor East worked with Moonee Valley City Council, electrical contractors and manufacturers to find the most beneficial solution to suit each application. Part of this project involved the replacement of approximately 700 Council owned ornamental and public lights located in parks, cycling and walking paths and car parks in Moonee Valley with the latest energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology.
